Bai Ji Guan
Lighter, more floral character than other Wuyi yancha. The distinctively pale-leaved Four Famous Bushes cultivar.
Bai Ji Guan (白鷄冠, "White Cockscomb") is the fourth of the classical Four Famous Bushes of Wuyi yancha. The cultivar has distinctively pale, almost yellow-green leaves — visually unlike any other Wuyi cultivar — and produces a meaningfully lighter cup character that diverges from the dominant Wuyi yancha style. Where Da Hong Pao, Rou Gui, and Shui Xian emphasize mineral depth and roasted intensity, Bai Ji Guan emphasizes floral lightness and an almost honey-fruit character.
Production volumes are very limited. The cultivar is more difficult to cultivate than other Wuyi material and produces less harvestable leaf per bush. Authentic Bai Ji Guan is rare in international specialty tea catalogs; production is mostly absorbed by Chinese domestic premium markets. The lighter cup character makes Bai Ji Guan an interesting entry point for drinkers exploring Wuyi yancha — less intense and easier to approach than Da Hong Pao or Rou Gui — but the rarity makes finding authentic productions challenging.
